Tag office or tag agency?
The name changes by state and the difference is more than cosmetic. In Kansas, tag offices are run by county treasurers, registration includes the vehicle property tax your county levies, and you have to renew in the county where you live. In Oklahoma, tag agencies are privately operated Licensed Operators authorised by Service Oklahoma, and any of them can process your transaction no matter where in the state you live.
Both states handle the same core services: registration renewal, plates and decals, title transfers, disability placards and boat titling. Driver licensing and REAL ID are widely available in Oklahoma and only at some Kansas locations.
